Home News & Events M.P. Steve Tuckwell Visits Our School for Parliament Week
As part of the Parliament Week, a national initiative to engage young people with democracy and politics, our school had the honour of hosting M.P. Steve Tuckwell on Thursday, 30 November 2023. He came to congratulate our newly elected Pupil Voice team, who represent the views and interests of all students from different key stages.
The Pupil Voice team had a democratic election in the school, where they campaigned for their ideas and votes. They received their badges from M.P. Tuckwell, who praised their enthusiasm and leadership. He also shared his experience of working in parliament and answered their questions about his role and responsibilities.
The Pupil Voice team gave M.P. Tuckwell a tour of our school facilities, including the MUGA and the adventure playground, the Art department and The Garden Café. They impressed him with their confidence and communication skills, using AAC when needed. They also had lunch with him and enjoyed a friendly conversation.
We would like to thank M.P. Tuckwell for his visit and his support for our school. We hope to continue our involvement with Parliament Week and inspire more students to participate in democracy and politics.
