UK Parliament – Champion of the Year!

One of our staff, Madhu, recently achieved the U.K. Parliament Gold Ambassador award in 2023 for her outstanding work embedding parliamentary education with events in which students are involved. For example, Pupil Voice, which represents the student body of Hillingdon Manor School, operates similarly to a parliament within the school community, with representatives acting like Members of Parliament (M.P.s) to make rules that enhance the learning environment. 

She received the following certificate for the work she did during UK Parliament week. During that week, students visited the U.K. Parliament, where they toured the Houses of Westminster. They observed parliamentary proceedings from the gallery and engaged in workshops at the Parliament Education Centre, including participating in debates and learning about legislative processes such as bills. Guest speakers representing UK parliament visited the school and spoke to the pupils on the functioning of the Parliament.
